European Parliament Stands with Georgia
The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, spoke out against the use of force against peaceful protesters in Georgia. She expressed solidarity with the Georgian people and condemned the repression of the opposition.
Metsola said that the actions taken by those in power are not compatible with Georgia’s goal of becoming a part of Europe. The European Parliament is calling on all 27 EU member states to work together and agree on measures against those responsible for the violence.
Support for Georgia
The European Parliament wants to help Georgia become a European country. Metsola said that their door will always be open to Georgia, and they stand by its people as they demand a better future.
Meeting with Georgian President
Metsola also invited Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili to meet at the European Parliament. She said that they will discuss how this meeting should take place.
