Estonia Summons Georgian Ambassador
The Estonian government has called the Georgian ambassador to their Foreign Ministry. This meeting was requested by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.
During this meeting, the Georgian ambassador discussed several issues with the Estonian officials. These included violence against Georgian citizens and journalists, as well as opposition leaders. The ambassador also talked about a statement made recently by Georgia‘s ruling party that was seen as hostile towards Estonia.
The Estonian government is unhappy with Georgia’s actions. They feel that the statements made by Georgia are unacceptable and untrue. Estonia has supported Georgia for nearly 30 years in its efforts to become part of European institutions.
The meeting also discussed recent events in Georgia, including a crackdown on protests and disputed parliamentary elections. The Estonian government feels that these actions go against the rule of law.
As a result of these events, Estonia has taken action against Georgian officials. They have imposed travel bans on 25 politicians who were involved in the violence.
