**EU Lawmaker Calls for Unity on Georgia**
Michael Roth, the leader of Germany’s parliament committee on foreign affairs, has spoken out against Hungary and Slovakia‘s opposition to EU-level sanctions. These sanctions are meant for officials from “Georgian Dream“, a government group in Georgia.
Roth said that this is not the first time that the governments of Hungary and Slovakia have tried to please authoritarian regimes. He added that they seem to be working as Russia’s allies within the EU. Roth thinks it’s now time for the EU to show its support for a free and democratic Georgia.
He wants other EU countries to come together in solidarity with Georgia. Roth believes this is an important moment, and action should be taken now.
