MEP Urges EU to Act on Georgia Crisis
Polish MEP Malgorzata Gosiewska criticized the EU’s High Representative, Kaja Kallas, for her statement that “a lot can happen before December 29.” Gosiewska asked what exactly Ms. Kallas was waiting for.
She expressed concern about the arrest of President Zurabishvili and suggested that the EU should take action to prevent such events from happening. The Polish MEP urged the EU to sanction those responsible for the violence against protesters in Georgia.
Thousands of Georgians have been taking to the streets for weeks, protesting against the policies of the Georgian Dream party, which Gosiewska described as pro–Russian. She noted that the government‘s response has been violent and has damaged relations with the EU.
