**Ukraine Condemns African Delegation‘s Visit to Russian-Occupied Territories**
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has strongly protested the visit of a Pan-African Parliament delegation to Ukraine’s Russian-occupied territories. The delegation, made up of representatives from 12 African countries, visited Donetsk Oblast in December.
According to reports, the delegates met with local officials and made statements that echoed Kremlin propaganda lines. They spoke about opposing colonialism on Ukrainian land that was seized by Russia during its war of aggression against Ukraine.
The Foreign Ministry has condemned the visit as “absurd” and called for the Pan-African Parliament delegation to be held accountable. The ministry stated: “Their statements are completely absurd, especially considering that Russia’s full-scale invasion and blockade of Black Sea ports threatened famine in many African countries.”
It is worth noting that Russia’s withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative in 2023 had significant consequences for global food security, particularly in developing countries like those in Africa. Ukraine has since opened a new trade corridor to restore its exports via the Black Sea.
