** Face Visa-Free Travel Limitation**

The Foreign Ministers have recommended suspending visa-free travel for holders of Georgian diplomatic passports. But according the Chairman of the Committee on European , Levan Makhashvili, this decision is more symbolic than practical.

Most Georgians hold both a diplomatic and an ordinary passport. This means that there will be no problem with attending meetings or traveling abroad. The ‘s decision is seen as a way to put pressure on Georgia without causing serious inconvenience.

Makhashvili explained that the EU wanted to show that it was not giving on finding a solution to the current issues between the two sides. He stated that the decision during the recent EU meeting was expected by the Georgian side.

The restriction of visa-free travel for diplomatic passports is not yet finalized. The European Commission has been asked to review the relevant laws and regulations. This process will take some time, and it’s unlikely to affect regular Georgian passport holders or ordinary citizens.

In short, Makhashvili said that this decision is a “symbolic” one, rather than a serious measure. It does not pose any threat to Georgians who travel regularly for work or personal reasons.
