Italy Backs EU Measures Against Georgia
Italy has agreed to the European Union’s measures against Georgia, including economic sanctions. This was announced by Italy’s Foreign Ministry.
Italy is one of several countries that have shown support for the Georgian people. The ministry said that it condemns the violence in Georgia and wants the country to reconsider its decision to block its path to Europe.
The EU has been trying to come up with a plan to respond to the situation in Georgia. Italy joined other countries in agreeing to suspend an agreement that makes it easier for diplomats to travel between the EU and Georgia.
Italian Foreign Ministry officials said that they hope the EU will stay on the side of the Georgian people. They also expressed the hope that Georgia’s recent decisions can be reconsidered.
This comes after a meeting at the European Union where some countries showed support for the Georgian people, including Hungary, Slovakia, Italy, Spain, and Romania. The Prime Minister of Georgia thanked these countries in public.
