**Georgian President Criticizes Election Process**
The Georgian President, Salome Zurabishvili, recently spoke to the European Parliament about the country’s recent elections. She described them as “Russian-style” and accused the government of massive fraud.
**Election Irregularities**
According to the President, there were several irregularities during the election process. The Electoral Code was changed, giving full control to the Central Election Commission (CEC). This allowed the government to appoint officials without following EU rules. Electronic voting was also introduced without proper oversight.
**Intimidation and Propaganda**
The President also pointed out instances of intimidation and propaganda used by the government during the election campaign. Posters were put up showing destroyed Ukrainian churches and theaters, while on the other side, a prosperous Georgia was depicted. This was seen as an attempt to sway voters and showed “Russian traces”.
**Violence and Lack of Police Presence**
The President also spoke about violence that took place at polling stations during the election. She claimed that she saw this firsthand and tried to contact the Minister of Internal Affairs, but he did not respond.
**Constitutional Violations**
According to the President, two principles were violated during the election process: the right to vote in secret and the use of electronic systems without proper oversight. A lawsuit was filed against these practices in the Constitutional Court, but the results were falsified.
**Request for Intervention**
The President also appealed to the Strasbourg Court, asking them to intervene and call new elections due to the deep crisis caused by the election process.
