**Georgian President Criticizes Ruling Party**
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, spoke out against the ruling party in a recent speech. She said that the party has taken a clear Russian path and is pretending to move towards Europe.
According to the President, there are two sides in Georgia: the people and the repressive government machine. She warned that the country may be heading for civil confrontation.
The President also stated that 80% of Georgians want to move towards Europe, as shown by public opinion polls and elections since independence. However, the ruling party is trying to preserve this hope, she said.
**A Shift in Direction**
President Zurabishvili pointed out that a shift in direction began before the elections. She mentioned several incidents that marked a departure from European reforms: the Gavrilov incident on June 29, 2019; the rejection of a document by Charles Michel; and the Prime Minister’s statement on not implementing financial sanctions against Russia.
She also mentioned the presentation of “Russian laws” in 2023 and 2024, as well as anti-Western rhetoric from Georgian rulers. The President accused the ruling party of blaming European partners for everything and spreading false information about America and Europe.
