EU Not Expecting Ukraine-Russia Ceasefire Soon
The European Union does not think there will be a deal or ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine in the near future. This was said by a high-ranking EU official.
No plans are being made to send EU troops to Ukraine to enforce a potential ceasefire. Some Western leaders have suggested sending peacekeepers to monitor a ceasefire, but this is not currently happening.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has been more optimistic, saying that negotiations could start as early as this winter. However, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has made it clear that his country will only consider peacekeeping proposals if there is a clear timeline for joining NATO.

Ukraine’s allies are supporting the country with economic and military aid. This includes Sweden building ties with Ukraine’s defense industry to boost production. The Ukrainian military is also innovative in using drone technology to undermine Russia’s advantage.

Russia has been bringing wounded soldiers back by trainload, according to a nurse at a Moscow hospital. Slovakia imports gas from Russia through Ukraine, but this could change if Russia cuts off supplies.
