**Ukrainian Leader Confirms Visit by US Special Envoy**
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg will visit Ukraine before the inauguration of Donald Trump as US president. This meeting is expected to take place in early January 2025.
General Kellogg was chosen by Trump to be his special envoy for Ukraine and Russia in November. He plans to meet with Ukrainian leaders in Kyiv, and also wants to speak with leaders in other European cities like Rome and Paris. These meetings are meant to help the new US administration learn more about the situation in Ukraine, rather than negotiate a peace deal.
President Zelenskyy made these announcements while speaking with journalists in Brussels on Wednesday. He expressed skepticism about the potential success of General Kellogg’s mission. “I don’t believe Putin wants to end the war,” he said.
The visit is notable because it will take place before Trump’s inauguration and General Kellogg’s official appointment as special envoy.
