**US Imposes and Restrictions **

The US Department has imposed sanctions on two senior Georgian , Vakhtang Gomelauri and Mirza Kezevadze. They were sanctioned under the Global Magnitsky Act for their involvement in human abuses against protesters.

**Further Action Taken**

In addition the sanctions, the US is also imposing visa restrictions on other Georgian individuals and their family members. These people are enforcement and security officials who were involved in violence against protesters, and municipal who abused their power to restrict fundamental freedoms.

**Statement from the State Department**

The press statement by the State Department says that this action builds on previous steps taken by the US and other countries. The individuals subject to these restrictions have not been named. The statement also condemns the ongoing violence against Georgian citizens and expresses support for the people of Georgia.
