Georgian Leaders Await EU‘s Move on Negotiation Talks
The Georgian government is waiting for the European Union (EU) to make a proposal to start negotiations. This was stated by Davit Matikashvili, a leader of the ruling party, at a parliamentary meeting.
Matikashvili said that it’s not about using this as a way to get what they want. He emphasized that there is a political aspect to this, but the government is ready to agree as soon as the EU makes a move.
The Prime Minister has already said that Georgia is fully prepared for these negotiations. Matikashvili repeated this, saying that when the EU decides on it, Georgia will agree quickly. The ball is in the EU’s court, he stated.
A petition asking the government to open negotiation talks was also discussed at the meeting. However, due to technical issues, the document was not processed as planned.
