**Council of Europe Chief Visits Georgia**
Alain Berset, the head of the Council of Europe, has finished a three-day trip to Georgia. During his visit, he met with government officials and opposition leaders.
Mr. Berset held a press conference where he said that the Georgian Dream government promised to form a group to change the “Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence“. This law has been criticized for being too strict.
**Promise to Change the Law**
The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, announced that the Georgian Dream government will work with him and other experts to change the law. A working group will be formed to make changes to the legislation.
Mr. Berset expressed his support for Georgia and its people. He said that the country is at a critical moment, with high levels of violence and polarization in public debate.
**Hope for Change**
The Council of Europe chief hopes that this process can lead to positive changes in other areas, such as equality, anti-discrimination measures, electoral reforms, and prison systems.
He called on both the ruling party and opposition leaders to engage in dialogue and respect democratic principles. Mr. Berset said that the Council of Europe is ready to help facilitate a dialogue between them.
**Concerns Over Journalists**
Mr. Berset expressed his concern over threats faced by journalists, calling it an “alarming” situation. He appealed to state institutions to avoid using excessive force against protesters and ensure the release of those detained on administrative charges.
