US President–elect Donald Trump often talks about the “deep state”. He says it has a big impact on how the country is run.
A month before a recent terrorist attack, Mr. Trump made a serious statement about the “deep state”. According to Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, this was what Trump said: either the “deep state” will destroy America or America will destroy the “deep state”.
Kobakhidze thinks that for four years, the “deep state” has been causing problems in America. This is why he says there have been many unfair decisions made by US officials.
The Prime Minister agrees with Trump’s idea of making America free from influential groups that are not officially part of government. These groups can be powerful and make decisions behind closed doors.
Mr. Trump promised to defeat the “deep state” and free America from its influence. The Georgian Prime Minister hopes he will succeed and do it on a good example – in Georgia, which also wants to get rid of such informal influences.
