**Ukraine Charges Russian General Over Hotel Attack**
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has gathered evidence against a high-ranking Russian officer. Colonel General Alexei Kim is accused of giving the order to attack a hotel in Kramatorsk, Donetsk Oblast.
On August 24, a missile hit the Sapfir Hotel, killing and injuring civilians. The SBU claims that Kim signed the directive and ordered the strike despite knowing it was a civilian target.
The SBU has charged Kim with waging war on Ukraine and violating international laws of war. This move is part of Ukraine’s efforts to hold Russian military leaders accountable for targeting civilians and committing war crimes.
This development comes after Ukrainian prosecutors accused Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of Russia‘s radiation, chemical, and biological defense forces, of deploying banned chemicals in the conflict. Kirillov was allegedly assassinated by the SBU on December 17 in Moscow.
