On Saturday, multiple drones struck an industrial facility and luxury high-rises in the Russian city of Kazan. This caused authorities to evacuate factories and close three regional airports.
The drones attacked Kazan early on Saturday morning. They targeted a large industrial facility and several residential buildings. The city is the capital of Tatarstan, a region known for making Iranian-designed drones used against Ukraine.
Just one day before, Russia had attacked central Kyiv in Ukraine. This attack damaged NATO embassies.
Russia’s air defense systems tried to stop the drones. One drone was hit and exploded in mid-air. The other drones reached their targets. They caused damage and fires across three city districts.
The luxury high-rises damaged included a 37-story building called Azure Skies. Another building, called Manhattan, had its spire destroyed.
