**Over 1,000 Apply to Join Ukrainian Legion in Poland**
Ukraine‘s Ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar, has revealed that more than 1,000 people have applied to join the Ukrainian Legion in Poland. This is a significant increase from just 600 applications by mid-November.
The Ukrainian Legion was created as part of an agreement between Ukraine and Poland to establish a volunteer military unit made up of Ukrainians living in Poland and other European Union countries. The initiative aims to provide trained soldiers who can support Ukraine’s defense efforts.
The number of applications is expected to grow further, with the ambassador hoping that more people will join. The first recruitment and contract signing took place in November, and a second enrollment is planned for January 10th.
**Training and Recruitment**
Recruits undergo comprehensive basic military training provided by the Polish side. After basic training, they move on to specialized training grounds to prepare for specific functions. However, the exact number of recruits remains classified at the request of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry.
The Ukrainian Legion in Poland is a unique initiative that brings together Ukrainians living abroad who want to support their country’s defense efforts. It highlights the strong ties between Ukraine and its allies in Europe.
