**Over 3,000 North Korean Troops Killed or Wounded in Ukraine-Russia Conflict**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that more than 3,000 North Korean soldiers have been killed or wounded while fighting alongside Russian forces in Ukraine’s Kursk Oblast. This number is significantly higher than previous estimates.
**North Korea’s Military Involvement**
Russia has reportedly deployed around 12,000 North Korean troops to help oust Ukrainian forces since early August. Zelensky warned that this deepening military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang poses significant global risks, including the transfer of modern warfare experience and advanced technology.
**Increased Collaboration Between Russia and North Korea**
Zelensky noted that increased collaboration between Russia and North Korea threatens to destabilize the Korean Peninsula and nearby regions. He also stated that Ukraine will take tangible responses if North Korea sends additional soldiers or military equipment to Russia.
**Reports of Casualties**
South Korean MP Lee Sung-kwon reported earlier this month that at least 100 North Korean troops have been killed and 1,000 injured while fighting in Kursk Oblast. The main cause of these casualties is reportedly the lack of experience with terrain and modern drone warfare.
**Russian Gains**
Ukrainian officials note that while North Korean forces are vulnerable to drones, their presence has enabled Russian troops to make limited territorial gains in the oblast.
