Opposition Leaders Meet to Discuss Elections
The opposition in Georgia has been working on a document that outlines the rules and conditions for holding new elections. The document is set to be presented to President Salome Zourabichvili tomorrow.
Giorgi Vashadze, one of the leaders of the “Unity – National Movement,” said that the opposition parties and coalitions had a productive meeting where they agreed on several key points. These include the need for new elections to be held, how these elections should be conducted, and what electoral administration should oversee them.
Vashadze emphasized that it is essential for the self-proclaimed regime to not have control over law enforcement agencies. This would prevent them from interfering with the election process, as happened in previous “special operations.”
The opposition leaders have agreed on the need for systemic changes before new elections can take place. They believe that these changes are necessary for the country to return to normal conditions.
