**Russian Airbase Attacked by Ukrainian Drones**
On December 24, Ukrainian drones targeted the city of Millerovo in Russia’s Rostov Oblast. The attack was confirmed by Yury Slyusar, the local acting governor.
Millerovo is home to a military airbase that houses fighter jets used to support Russian forces operating in Ukraine. The airbase has been attacked before, with a missile being shot down over the city on December 22.
According to Andrii Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s counter-disinformation center, the airbase hosts aircraft that perform tasks to support Russian infantry operating in eastern and southern Ukraine.
**Russian Air Defense Repels Attack**
Russian air defense systems and mobile fire groups had been repelling the attack since 9 p.m. on December 23. As a result, eight drones were destroyed, and four more were intercepted by electronic warfare in the Millerovo and Tarasov districts.
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that three Ukrainian drones were shot down over Rostov Oblast, and another over Voronezh Oblast. No one was injured in the attack, but videos posted on social media showed large explosions.
**Recent Attacks on Russia**
This is not the first time Millerovo has been targeted by Ukraine. Earlier in December, Ukraine launched a missile strike on the Kamensky Combine, a chemical plant in Rostov Oblast that has been sanctioned by the EU, U.K., and U.S. for its role in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
**Russia-Ukraine Conflict Continues**
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate, with both sides trading attacks and accusations. The ongoing war has resulted in significant losses on both sides, with 1,630 Russian casualties reported just over the past day.
