Russian Missile Enters Romania‘s Airspace
A Russian cruise missile flew through Romanian and Moldovan airspace before hitting Ukraine. This happened on December 25 during a big attack on Ukraine’s energy facilities.
The missile traveled about 140 kilometers through Moldova and Romania before reaching its target in Ukraine. It passed over the area of Yampil in Vinnytsia Oblast and entered Romania near Darabani in Botoșani County.
This is not the first time Russia has breached NATO member Romania’s airspace. In February, a Russian missile reportedly crossed into Romanian territory during an attack on Ukraine. However, Romanian officials disputed this claim.
Romanian Defense Ministry and NATO have not commented on this incident yet. It’s unclear if they detected the missile when it entered their airspace.
Russia often sends missiles and drones over Ukrainian territory during attacks on the country. NATO has chosen not to shoot them down, fearing this might lead to a bigger conflict with Russia.
