Zelensky spoke with Japanese Prime Shigeru Ishiba over the phone. He thanked Japan for its previous aid, which has totalled $12 billion. This money has helped save thousands of lives in Ukraine.

Ukraine recently received $1 billion from Japan and the UK through a program run by the Bank. This money is to be used for social and humanitarian purposes.

Zelensky had met with Japanese Foreign Minister back in November. They discussed ‘s presence on Russia’s front line and ways to support Ukraine.

The Japanese has promised to deepen its relationship with Ukraine. This includes plans to increase economic and impose more sanctions against Russia.
