**Dozens Killed in Gaza Israeli Strikes**
At least 28 people, including children, have been killed in a wave of Israeli military strikes across the Gaza Strip. A school that was housing displaced families was among those hit, with eight people dying and four children among them.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that Hamas “systematically violates international law”, and vowed to continue fighting against the terrorist organization.
**Civilian Casualties**
Gaza’s civil defense agency spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal said that the school had been repurposed as a shelter for Palestinians displaced by the war. One of the men who was staying at the school, Abu, told BBC Arabic that the attack came while he was asleep.
“I was sleeping peacefully and then suddenly we woke up to the sound of a very powerful blast,” he said.
**Hospitals Targeted**
The director of the Kamal Adwan Hospital, Dr Hussam Aba Safiya, reported that the generators of the hospital had been damaged, and accused Israeli forces of aiming for the fuel tank. He called for an immediate ceasefire in the area around the hospital to protect patients and health workers.
**Ceasefire Deal Closer**
Despite the ongoing violence, Palestinian groups involved in the fighting have told the BBC that a ceasefire deal is “closer than ever”. More than 45,000 Palestinians have been killed during the 14-month war between Israel and Hamas.
