According to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov on Telegram, a Ukrainian drone attacked a fuel storage facility near the town of Volokonovka in Russia’s Belgorod Oblast, causing a fire at the fuel tanks on Sept. 8. Photos and videos shared by local Telegram channels around 6 p.m. show a large fire and smoke in Belgorod Oblast. However, Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the alleged attack and the Kyiv Independent was unable to verify the claims.
Later in the day, Gladkov also claimed that Ukrainian drones attacked three other settlements in the oblast, causing damage to residential houses and cars. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. This comes after reports on Sept. 1 of dozens of drones targeting various Russian regions overnight, including Moscow, Tver, Voronezh, Tula, Kaluga, Bryansk, Belgorod, Lipetsk, and Kursk, according to local officials.
In Belgorod Oblast, it was reported that 14 drones were shot down and several houses, cars, and commercial properties were damaged while repelling the aerial attack, according to Gladkov.
