**Russia Closes Moscow Airports Due to Safety Concerns**
Russia has temporarily suspended flights at all four airports operating in Moscow, as well as a fifth airport in Kaluga. The Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) made the announcement on December 26.
According to Rosaviatsiya, the closure is due to safety concerns, but the agency did not specify what caused these concerns. The decision was made to ensure the safety of civil aircraft flights at Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Zhukovsky, and Kaluga airports.
**Previous Airport Closures in Moscow**
This is not the first time that Moscow’s airports have been closed due to security concerns. In November 2024, Ukraine launched a drone attack against Moscow, prompting Russian authorities to shut down their airports.
**Scrutiny of Russian Air Defense Operations**
The latest airport closure comes as Russian air defense operations are under scrutiny after a plane crash in Kazakhstan on December 25. The crash was reportedly caused by a Russian air defense missile that targeted an Azerbaijani Airlines plane during drone activity over Grozny.
**Other Developments**
In other news, Ukrainian troops have reportedly hit the command post of Russia’s 810th Separate Marine Brigade in the town of Lgov in Kursk Oblast. The Estlink 2 undersea power cable linking Finland and Estonia was also seriously damaged on Christmas Day, with authorities investigating it as a possible act of sabotage.
