EU Expresses Growing Concern Over Georgia’s Direction Under Current Government, Says HR/VP Borrell

During a press following an informal meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers on August 29, 2024 in Brussels, EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy expressed the EU’s deepening concern about ‘s current direction. He emphasized that the country is moving away from the Union, which is a cause for extreme worry.

The EU has been vocal in its criticism of the ruling party for its recent adoption of the Foreign Agents , increased anti-Western rhetoric, and anti- actions. The EU has made it clear that it is considering all options to respond to these decisions. As a result of the government’s actions, the EU has halted Georgia’s accession process and frozen EUR 30 million from the (EPF) that was designated for the Georgian of Defense.
