Committee Approves 2023 Action Plan for Education and Science, But Questions Government’s Role

The and Science Committee has approved the 2023 action plan, which was presented by Giorgi Amilakhvari, the Chair of the Committee. According Amilakhvari, the Committee aims to strengthen its supervisory role by inviting subordinate bodies of the Ministry of Education to their progress at regular intervals. Additionally, the Committee will actively monitor the implementation of recommendations resulting from thematic inquiries conducted in 2022.

Amilakhvari also announced that the plans to conduct two new thematic studies in 2023, focusing on higher and professional education. He emphasized that the Committee will begin working on the Education Code in the upcoming year.

“In the 10th convocation of , our goal is to draft an education code. We will engage in open discussions with the , academic communities, and other stakeholders, including non-governmental . The code will be developed with input from experts,” Amilakhvari stated.
