**Ukraine Risks Losing Territory in Russia**
The Ukrainian military may have to leave the territory it captured in Russia’s Kursk region within months. This is because of a large number of Russian and North Korean troops that are moving into the area.
**Russian and North Korean Troops on the Move**
There are an estimated 50,000 Russian soldiers, including troops from North Korea, heading to the Kursk region. Ukraine had previously captured over 1,263 square kilometers of territory in this region. However, due to a lack of manpower and uncertain supply lines, Ukrainian forces have lost more than 40% of this land.
**Complicated Situation**
The situation is complicated by the presence of an estimated 12,000 North Korean troops supporting Russian forces. This means that Ukraine’s forces are facing not just one enemy, but two.
**US Officials Warn of Potential Loss**
US officials warn that Moscow may launch a concentrated effort to expel Ukrainian forces from Kursk as soon as next month. They suggest that Ukrainian troops might only be able to maintain their position until spring before facing the choice between retreat or potential encirclement.
