Climate Change Causes Longer Heat Waves
A group of climate researchers says the world has experienced a bigger increase in hot weather due to human-caused climate change. On average, people have had 41 extra days of heat that can be bad for their health this year.
These extra hot days are longer than usual heat waves. They happen when temperatures stay high for more days than expected. This is because the Earth’s temperature is rising, making summers hotter and longer.
People in cities like Miami and Athens have been affected by these heat waves. To help them cope with the hot weather, charities have given out water and other supplies to those who need it most, such as homeless people.
