“Galaktion Tabidze Jubilee Week Joins “Tbilisi – World Book Capital” Celebration”

This year marks the 130th anniversary of the birth of Galaktion Tabidze, a renowned poet. To celebrate this occasion, a week-long event will be held as part of the “ Book ” initiative. The festivities will kick off with a special event on November 20 at 7 PM in .

The evening will be hosted by Vakhtang Javakhadze, Lasha Bakradze, Nene Kvinikadze, and Nino Kasradze, who will share interesting and lesser-known details about Galaktion’s life and read excerpts from his works. The stage will also feature illustrations by artist Giorgi Jincharadze, inspired by archival photos of the poet.

The event will feature performances by Davit Evgenidze, Erekle Deisadze, Anuka Chkheidze, Bibicha Kvachadze, Tsotne Zedginidze, Maia Djabua, and the Tbilisi Women’s Choir led by Omar Burduli. The evening will be directed by Davit Sakvarelidze.

Galaktion Tabidze was a highly influential poet in the 20th century. He survived Stalin’s Great Purge, which claimed the lives of many of his fellow writers, friends, and relatives.
