Violence Against Protesters on Rustaveli Avenue
Police are detaining peaceful demonstrators in Tbilisi. According to reports, the detentions involve violent methods such as pulling hair and dragging individuals on the ground.
The Georgian Young Lawyers‘ Association (GYLA) has spoken out against these actions. They say that such behavior is a violation of the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression. GYLA also claims that these actions do not comply with legal norms and are part of ongoing repression in the country.
This incident occurred on December 29, during daytime hours. The Ministry of Internal Affairs employees were involved in detaining protesters, including women. GYLA is calling for an end to such violent methods and respect for human rights.
