**Slovak Minister Suggests Ukraine Give Up Territory**
The Defense Minister of Slovakia, Robert Kalinak, said that Ukraine might have to give up some land due to the current situation. This was reported by Slovak news agency TASR on December 29.
In a TV interview, Kalinak said that his country‘s top priority is for an immediate ceasefire and peace talks in Ukraine. He also stated that Russia is clearly the aggressor and has broken international law. However, he thinks it’s more important to have stability after the war than exactly where the borders are.
Kalinak said that Ukraine should understand that it will never be between Germany and Switzerland. Instead, it will always share its longest border with Russia. He emphasized that the most important thing is for people to stop dying in the conflict.
Slovakia’s Prime Minister, Robert Fico, has taken a more pro-Russian stance in recent times. His government stopped sending military supplies to Ukraine and adopted a more neutral tone. Fico also accepted an invitation from the Kremlin to attend Victory Day celebrations in Moscow next May.
