**Russia Loses Thousands of Troops in Ukraine**
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has lost over 787,000 troops in Ukraine. The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported this number on December 30. This includes over 2,000 casualties from just the past day.
**Losses Mount for Russia**
In addition to the human toll, Russia has also lost significant military equipment and vehicles. These losses include:
* 9,663 tanks
* 20,003 armored fighting vehicles
* 32,551 vehicles and fuel tanks
* 21,494 artillery systems
* 1,256 multiple launch rocket systems
* 1,032 air defense systems
* 369 airplanes
* 329 helicopters
* 21,069 drones
* 28 ships and boats
* 1 submarine
**Black Box Investigation**
The black box from an Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash in Kazakhstan is being sent to Brazil for investigation. The crash is believed to have been caused by Russian air defense.
**Slovak Minister Warns of Ukraine Territory Losses**
Slovak Defense Minister Robert Kalinak has said that Ukraine may need to cede some territory due to the realities on the ground.
**Nordic Baltic Eight Urge New Elections in Georgia**
The Nordic Baltic Eight countries have urged Georgia to hold new elections following disputed parliamentary elections in October and the inauguration of the new president.
