**Russia Attacks Ukrainian Cities**
On December 31, Russia launched a series of attacks on Ukrainian cities. The targets included Kyiv, Shostka, and Odesa.
**Missile and Drone Strikes**
The attacks involved missile and drone strikes. Russian officials claimed to have targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. However, the strikes caused only minor damage and no casualties were reported.
**Kyiv Under Attack**
In Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported a ballistic missile attack threat early in the morning. The city’s air defense system was activated several times during the night. A few detached houses and cars were damaged by missile debris, but there were no reports of injuries or fatalities.
**Shostka Hit Hard**
The city of Shostka, in Sumy Oblast, was hit hard by Russian forces. Eight Tu-22M3 strategic bombers launched anti-ship missiles at the city. The attacks damaged 12 apartment buildings and two educational facilities. Infrastructure objects were also destroyed.
**Odesa Under Attack**
In Odesa, a Russian Kh-31P anti-radar missile was fired at the city. Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspile reported explosions in the city at around 10:30 am.
