**More Ukrainians Freed from Captivity in **

According the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of (POWs), more Ukrainians were freed from Russian captivity this year than in . In total, 1,358 people were released, bringing the total number of people freed since the start of the full-scale invasion to 3,956.

**Successful Prisoner Exchange**

On December 30, successfully secured the release of 189 captives from Russian detention, including and two civilians. This was described as one of the largest exchanges since the start of the war. Among those freed were defenders of Azovstal, Mariupol, and other key frontlines.

**Return of Children and Military Personnel**

Since the beginning of 2024, at least 246 children native to Kherson Oblast have been returned from Russian occupation, according to governor Oleksandr Prokudin. Additionally, 87 members, 43 National Guard members, 33 border guards, 24 sailors, and fighters from the Azov Regiment were among those released.

**President’s New Year Address**

In his New Year video address, President confirmed the numbers and expressed gratitude for the return of the captives. He emphasized that each person represents life brought back to Ukraine and encouraged Ukrainians to fight for every day and year of freedom.
