President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of a deadly truck attack in the U.S. city of New Orleans on New Year’s Day.
The incident occurred when a truck driver intentionally rammed into a crowd, killing at least 10 people and injuring 30. U.S. authorities are investigating the incident as a possible terrorist attack.
Zelensky wrote on social media: “Horrified by the attack in New Orleans, U.S., which has claimed innocent lives and left many injured. We trust that those responsible for this terrible act will be brought to justice.”
**Russia’s Drone Attacks Cause Casualties in Ukraine**
Meanwhile, Russia launched over 100 drones at Ukraine on Jan. 1, killing two people in the capital city of Kyiv.
Zelensky also condemned Russia’s actions: “Our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, and we wish a swift recovery to all those injured.”
**Ukraine Continues to Defend Itself Against Russian Invasion**
The Ukrainian military has been defending itself against Russian forces in various parts of Ukraine. In recent days, Ukraine conducted 11 prisoner exchanges and secured the return of 356 people.
President Zelensky said: “No one will give us peace as a gift, but we believe that the United States will stand together with us as we fight to stop Russia’s full-scale invasion.”
**European Leaders React to Russian Aggression**
European leaders have expressed their concern and condemnation of Russia’s actions. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said: “We will do everything to ensure that Europe’s security is a reality, not just an aspiration.”
**Russian Losses Mount in Ukraine Conflict**
Russia has lost over 38,000 troops and more than 1,000 pieces of equipment since the beginning of Ukraine’s incursion into Russia’s Kursk Oblast.
