Ukraine’s Electricity Soar

Ukraine imported a record 4.4 million megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity in 2024, according data from ExPro company.

Most of Ukraine’s electricity imports came from Hungary (39%), followed by Slovakia (23%), Romania (18%), and Poland (14%).

Ukraine became a net importer of electricity in 2024, with only 366,000 MWh being exported. Experts are worried that disrupting power to Ukraine’s remaining nuclear power plants could cause safety risks.

The International Monetary Fund estimates that Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s have caused $56.5 billion in damage by -2024.
