Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili announced at a special briefing on September 16 that two opposition forces, Lelo‘s Strong Georgia and ex-Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia‘s For Georgia, will form a coalition. The President invited both parties to the Orbeliani Presidential Palace on September 17 to officially seal the coalition. She emphasized the need for a “positive, third center” to help undecided voters make a clear choice in the upcoming elections.
Zourabichvili stated that she had consulted with all parties and believes that these two forces have the potential to create a strong impact on society and mobilize voters. She welcomed their readiness to unite and invited them to the Orbeliani Palace to finalize their negotiations.
The President urged the parties to come together, stating that this is what society expects from them. She expressed confidence that this coalition will bring about positive change for the country.
