Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on Sept. 16 to increase the number of military personnel and staff in the Russian Armed Forces to 2,389,130 people, including 1.5 million military personnel. This will take effect on Dec. 1 and will add 180,000 personnel to the current staffing level of 2.2 million.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sept. 16 that his Victory Plan for Ukraine is over 90% complete and will be presented to allies next week. The plan includes steps to strengthen Ukraine’s position, such as participating in global security infrastructure and pressuring Russia to end the war through diplomatic means.
Zelensky also signed a bill on the formation of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, which will be headed by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Colonel Vadym Sukharevskyi. This branch of the military will focus on improving Ukraine’s use of drones and developing specialized units for unmanned vehicles.
Denmark has promised to transfer another batch of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine later this year, according to Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen. This will further strengthen Ukraine’s military capabilities in the ongoing conflict with Russia.
