**Russia Unimpressed by Trump’s Peace Deal Proposals**
Russia’s envoy to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, has said that the US president-elect‘s team has not presented any “interesting” ideas for ending the war in Ukraine. This comes after reports suggested that Trump’s team was considering a plan to delay Ukraine’s NATO membership by 20 years in exchange for continued Western arms supplies and European peacekeepers.
Nebenzya made his comments on January 3, saying that President Putin had outlined Russia’s conditions for ending the conflict on December 19. He stated that so far, nothing from Trump’s team has suggested anything of interest to Moscow.
**Ukraine’s Exports Continue**
Despite the ongoing war, Ukraine’s agricultural exports continue to thrive. The country exported over 78 million tons of products in 2024, including grains and sunflower seeds critical to markets across Africa and Asia.
**Conflict Continues**
The conflict in Ukraine shows no signs of abating. Russian attacks against Ukrainian positions killed two people and injured at least 13 others over the past day.
**International Reaction**
Germany has been called upon to consider deploying Bundeswehr troops to Ukraine after the war ends. Meanwhile, Moldova has offered to help Transnistria purchase gas through European platforms.
**Ukrainians Open to Conceding Territory**
A recent survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology found that around 38% of Ukrainians are open to conceding some of the territories while preserving independence in order to end the war with Russia as fast as possible.
