According to Governor Ivan Fedorov, Russia attacked Zaporizhzhia Oblast on the night of Sept. 17, resulting in the death of two civilians and injuries to five others. Rescue teams are currently searching for survivors under the rubble, as reported by Fedorov. Earlier in the night, explosions were reported in the same region. Fedorov later stated that the Komyshuvakha community in Zaporizhzhia Oblast was “massively attacked” by Russia, resulting in two deaths and five injuries. The attack also caused damage to homes and an infrastructure facility. Rescue workers are still on the scene and the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
This is not the first time that Russia has targeted civilian areas in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The region is currently occupied by Russian forces, who are attempting to break through the country’s southeast. The city of Zaporizhzhia is located less than 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the front lines.
