**Aviation Academy Fired, Replaced by Ruling Member**

The Education Ministry has fired Goran Cvijovic, the -serving director of the Aviation Academy. He will be replaced by Miroslav Lepir, member of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).

Cvijovic will stay in his job until January 9, when Lepir will take over as acting director. Lepir is currently the Vrsac City Council and has no experience in aviation.

** Against Director**

There had been a media campaign against Cvijovic since last summer. Local and pro-government media accused him of being too close to the opposition party and causing problems at the Aviation Academy.

Cvijovic was criticized appointing people with opposition ties to important jobs. He was also accused of choosing a pilot who supported protests as head of the flight instructor department.

**Concerns Over New Director**

The Parents’ Council has spoken out against Cvijovic’ dismissal, saying it was politically motivated. They are worried about Lepir’s lack of experience running and his selection for the job.

The Aviation Academy celebrated its 100th anniversary in September this year.
