**Russia’s Gas Cutoff Fuels Transnistria Energy Crisis**
The energy crisis in the Russian-occupied region of Transnistria is part of a broader plan to spread propaganda and manipulate, according to Moldova’s government spokesperson Daniel Voda.
On January 6, Voda said that Russia’s gas cutoff is not just an economic issue but also a deliberate effort to create fear and unrest. The crisis has left nearly 72,000 homes and 1,500 high-rise buildings in Transnistria without heating or hot water.
**Moldova Offers Help**
The Moldovan government had offered to help Transnistria purchase gas through European platforms, but the proposal was rejected by local Russian-backed authorities. They claimed that Western energy prices are higher and unstable.
**Russia Blames Moldova**
However, Voda criticized the refusal, saying it was a failure to cooperate for the benefit of the people. Russia has sought to blame Chisinau for the crisis, alleging that Moldovan authorities intentionally caused power outages to punish the region.
**International Reaction**
The European Commission has said that there are no security supply issues or concerns following the end of Russian gas transit through Ukraine.
