The head of Ukraine’s State Customs Service, Serhiy Zvyagintsev, is being investigated for not declaring a home worth over $100,000. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) suspects that Zvyagintsev and his family are the true owners of the property, which was registered under his father-in-law’s name.

In 2013-2014, Ukraine introduced a system for officials to declare their assets as part of the country’s fight against corruption. However, this requirement was suspended in 2023 when Russia invaded Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky later reinstated asset declarations and made them publicly accessible.
