**Ukraine Strenghthenes Anti-Terror Laws**
President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a new law to make it easier to add groups and organizations to Ukraine’s list of terrorist groups.
The law gives more power to the Security Service (SBU) to manage the list. Before, it was done informally through different government institutions. Now, there is a clear process for adding groups to the list.
**Groups Will Be Held Accountable**
The new law defines how groups can be added to the list and will identify terrorist networks that operate both inside Ukraine and outside its borders. This includes groups that may not be officially registered in Ukraine.
**Public List And Exclusions**
The list of terrorist groups will be made public on the government’s website and will be managed by the SBU’s Anti-Terrorism Center. The law also says that political parties cannot be added to the terror list, regardless of their activities.
**Background**
Ukraine was invaded by Russia in February 2022. As a result, Ukraine and many Western countries designated Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. This new law is part of Ukraine’s efforts to strengthen its anti-terror laws.
