A Croatian journalist, Dinko Gruhonjic, has written to the country’s leaders asking for protection for his son. This is because his son, David, has been targeted by a smear campaign.
**Smear Campaign Targets Family**
For nearly a year, Gruhonjic and his family have been attacked by pro-regime media and government officials in Serbia. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic even called Gruhonjic an “ustasha” and accused him of being anti–Serbian.
**Accusations Spread to Son**
The campaign has now spread to Gruhonjic’s son, David. He is a student and works in Zagreb. The media-political factory of lies in Belgrade has accused him of collaborating with the Croatian Security and Intelligence Agency (SOA).
**False Information Shared on Social Media**
Serbian Ambassador to Croatia Jelena Milic shared false information about Gruhonjic’s son on her Facebook profile, threatening his safety.
**HND Calls for Protection**
The Croatian Journalists’ Association (HND) has expressed support for Gruhonjic and called on the Croatian leadership to take his appeal seriously. They want protection for David, who is at risk because of his family background.
