**Russian Forces Bomb Kherson, Injure 6 People**
On January 9, Russian forces dropped guided aerial bombs on the city of Kherson in Ukraine. At least six people were injured, including two women and four men who suffered blast injuries and shrapnel wounds. One house was destroyed, and a kindergarten and business were damaged.
**Ukraine’s Counteroffensive**
In November 2022, Ukraine’s Armed Forces liberated Kherson and other settlements on the west bank of the Dnipro River. Russian troops were pushed to the river’s east bank, where they have been firing at the liberated territories, causing civilian deaths and destruction.
**International Support for Ukraine**
Denmark has reserved 135 million euros ($139 million) for further purchases under the “Danish model,” which involves buying arms for Ukraine directly from Ukrainian manufacturers. Norway is expected to contribute another 43 million euros ($44 million) to this initiative.
**Ukraine’s President Visits Italy**
On January 9, Ukraine’s president will travel to Italy following a meeting in Germany. The situation in the town of Kupiansk is “very difficult,” according to Andrii Besedin, head of the military administration.
**US Defense Tranche**
The US has announced its final defense tranche provided by the Biden administration before Donald Trump takes office on January 20. President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to hold bilateral meetings during a summit in Germany.
