**Trump Revises Ukraine Peace Timeline**
US President-elect Donald Trump has changed his plan to end the war in Ukraine. He initially promised to stop the fighting within 24 hours, but now says it will take several months.
European leaders are not worried about this change. They believe that the US will still support Ukraine and help prevent Russia from gaining more control over the country.
**No Concrete Plan**
Two European officials told the Financial Times that Trump’s team has no plan to resolve the conflict yet. They also said that US aid to Ukraine will continue after Trump takes office on January 20.
One official said, “The whole [Trump] team is obsessed with strength and looking strong, so they’re recalibrating the Ukraine approach.”
**European Leaders Urge Support**
French officials say it’s essential for Russia to stop advancing in eastern Ukraine before any peace talks can start. They also urge Trump to keep supporting Ukraine with military aid.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago and stressed that Ukraine needs concrete security guarantees as part of any diplomatic resolution.
**Russia’s Goals**
The Kremlin says President Vladimir Putin is open to talking to Trump, but his main goals are to ensure Ukraine never joins NATO and reduce NATO’s presence in Eastern Europe.
**NATO Leaders Warn Trump**
NATO leaders have told Trump to prioritize “peace through strength” in Ukraine. They warn that a settlement unfavorable to Kyiv could embolden Russia and other adversaries like China and North Korea.
