**Norway to Give Ukraine 2 Billion Euros in Military Aid**
Norway has promised to give Ukraine 2 billion euros ($2.1 billion) in military aid in 2025. This was announced by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov after a meeting with his Norwegian counterpart on January 9.
**A Long-Time Ally**
This is not the first time Norway has helped Ukraine. In December, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere said Norway would give Ukraine 2.7 billion kroner ($242 million) to help its navy and fight against Russian threats in the Black Sea.
**Meeting at Ramstein Summit**
Umerov met with Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram on the sidelines of a summit in Germany on January 9. They discussed how Norway could best help Ukraine. Umerov said that air defense is an important area where Norway’s support is needed.
**New Funding Mechanism**
Norway will also continue to invest in Ukraine’s domestic military production and joint projects, like ammunition production. A new funding mechanism called the “Norwegian model” has been created to complement a similar program called the “Danish model”.
**A New Way of Giving Aid**
The Danish model involves purchasing arms directly from Ukrainian manufacturers instead of sending them as aid. This is seen as a way to help Ukraine’s economy and independence.
**Other Countries Are Helping Too**
Ukraine’s other allies, like the US, also reaffirmed their support at the summit. They are committed to helping Ukraine become stronger and more independent.
